To do its job, the app stores a few things in its protected storage area on your device. None of it leaves the device:
Running timers and stopwatches, including their lap times, exist only in memory and are gone once the app is closed.
None of this is personal data – unless you enter a name that identifies you yourself (as the name of a timer, for example). That text stays on the device as well.
You can delete all of it at any time: in the Android settings under Apps → Timer App → Storage choose to clear the app data, or simply uninstall the app.
The app offers voice control for the commands “Start”,
“Stop” and “Reset”. This requires the Android
microphone permission (RECORD_AUDIO). Android asks you for it
explicitly before it is used for the first time.
No audio ever leaves your device. Recognition uses a speech model that ships inside the app itself and runs entirely locally. There is no server, no cloud service and no connection to any external recognition service.
The access is limited as follows:
The app uses the vibration permission (VIBRATE) to alert you
when a timer runs out. Android classifies this as a normal permission and therefore does not
prompt separately. No data is collected or read in the process, and vibration
can be switched off in the app settings.
The app does not request the INTERNET permission. On a technical
level it therefore cannot open a connection to any server – neither ours nor anyone
else’s. The app works fully in flight mode.
You can verify the requested permissions yourself at any time: Google Play lists them on the app’s store page under “App permissions – See more”.
No analytics, advertising, tracking or crash‑reporting services are built in – in particular no Google Analytics, no Firebase, no ad network, no Facebook SDK and no Sentry.
The app uses the open‑source speech recognition library Vosk (Apache License 2.0). It is a plain software library executed as part of the app on your device. It is not an online service and does not connect to anything.
Android offers an automatic backup feature. If it is enabled on your device, the operating system may back up the app data described above (settings, presets and workout plans) to your own Google Drive account, so that it is available again when you switch devices.
This backup is performed by Android, not by the app – we have no access to it and no knowledge of it. It is your own backup in your own account. You can disable it in the Android settings under System → Backup.
Download and installation happen through Google Play. In doing so, Google processes data as an independent controller (such as installations, device information and – if you have consented – crash reports). We have no influence over this. Google’s privacy policy applies.
Because the app collects no personal data and has no internet access, there is no transfer to third parties – and none to countries outside the European Union.
Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21).
Since we neither collect nor store any personal data about you, we can neither provide information nor delete data – we simply hold none. The data stored on your device remains entirely under your control (see section 3). You are nevertheless welcome to contact us at any time.
Independently of this, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
The app is not specifically directed at children. As no personal data is collected at all, no data from children is processed either.
Future changes to the app’s features may require this privacy policy to be adapted. The current version is available at www.handy-timer.com/policy/. The date of the most recent change is shown above under “Last updated”.
